Time Card

This dashboard answers a posted question: “How does one create a measure that would derive an employee’s overtime on a daily basis as well as on a weekly basis?” The time card is set up as a table in an Excel spreadsheet. Power Query is used to get the data and to transform the data. The columns need to be transposed, and a few other changes are made and saved as a query. The measure that solves this issue uses a SUMX () function that iterates through the table, and an IF () function that checks for overtime on a daily basis. This is then posted to Power BI and is displayed as two matrices, a clustered column chart (with eight hours line marked,) and two slicers to allow the bookkeeper to zero in on an employee or day of the week. Everything is interactive and cross linked.

Note: Since this is a simple dashboard, I took the liberty of making the background one of my favorites views, Flat Top Mountain, just outside Anchorage, Alaska!
